True North Counseling is located in Bloomington–Normal, Illinois. We also offer secure telehealth services for clients across Illinois who prefer to meet online.

We offer weekday appointment times, with some evening availability. Specific openings vary by clinician, and we do our best to accommodate busy schedules.

Standard individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. Other session lengths may be available depending on your needs and treatment plan.

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance and private-pay clients. We’re happy to provide a superbill if you wish to seek reimbursement through out-of-network benefits.

Getting started is simple. You can contact us through the form below or schedule an initial consultation. From there, we’ll help match you with the therapist who best fits your needs.

We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or missed sessions may incur a fee.

Our therapists hold advanced clinical degrees and have specialized training in areas such as anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationships, and emotional well-being. We are committed to ongoing education to ensure our clients receive thoughtful, evidence-based care.

We primarily work with adolescents and adults. If you’re unsure whether we’re the right fit, we’re happy to talk through your situation.

Sessions are conversational, collaborative, and tailored to you. We’ll explore what’s bringing you in, identify patterns, and develop tools to help you navigate life with greater clarity and confidence.

Sometimes. Some clients find reflection exercises or small practices helpful, while others prefer to focus entirely on in-session work. We’ll tailor this in a manner that works best for you.

We draw from evidence-based approaches while remaining flexible and relational. Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. Therefore, we adapt our methods to your goals, personality, and pace.

Show up as you are. Be honest, curious, and patient with yourself. Progress doesn’t require perfection – just willingness.

Not at all. Many clients start with, “I’m not sure where to begin.” That’s part of the process. We’ll figure it out together.

We will discuss your childhood only if it feels helpful and relevant to the conversation. Therapy involves focusing on what matters to you, not on checking boxes.

All of it is welcome. Therapy is a human space, not a performance.

Absolutely. Almost everyone is. Nervousness often fades quickly once the relationship begins to develop.

We love both – but we fully support whichever camp you’re in.
